Meet Brandon

“I’m thankful to be alive and see another day.”

Brandon grew up with a close-knit, loving family in East Macon. “My childhood was amazing,” he recalls. “I went to Chuck E. Cheese a lot, went to the park and had a lot of fun.”

School, however, was a challenge. “I struggled to stay focused and listen to people,” he says. He also felt different from others and didn’t have any friends until after high school.

As an adult, Brandon tried to find his way. He continued living with his parents, working odd jobs while searching for steady work to gain independence. But his coworkers were a negative influence, and alcohol sometimes became a distraction. “I used to go over to my coworkers’ houses or go out to clubs and drink,” he says.

Everything changed when a friend from church told him about the Rescue Mission. “When I first got here, it was amazing,” Brandon says. “Going to church, being around the Lord, being around positive people – they’re not pretending to be nice, they really are nice.”

“I’m thankful to the Rescue Mission for showing me I can change and be the best I can be.”

Today, Brandon is thriving – he has a job and has graduated from our life-recovery program. “I have enjoyed working at the Barn thrift store, helping out, and talking to others,” he says. “I already have a good character and a good heart, but I became a better person.”

Brandon is looking ahead with hope. “I want to save up some money and have my own place,” he shares.

This Easter, Brandon has a new direction for his life. Thank you for lighting the path forward for him to experience a future of hope and peace! “I’m thankful to be alive and I’m thankful I wake up to see another day.”
