SKYDOG 70  POST EVENT PRESS RELEASE

On Sunday, November 20, 2016-Noon to 5:00 PM Central City Park  Macon, Ga.,

Nearly 3,000 people gathered in Celebration of the birthday, life and music of Duane “Skydog” Allman.

This was our 11th Anniversary!

SPECIAL GUEST MUSICIANS:

Chris Hicks, guitarist for the Marshall Tucker Band is one of our own locals. Each year he has been on tour but for 2016, he was finally able to participate in Skydog! He was fantastic as we knew he would be. We all know he is crazy good on guitar and that he can sing the blues, but we had no idea what a dancer he can be. We welcome back each year our great friends and great musicians, Paul Hornsby and Lamar Williams Jr. They never fail to reveal why music is such a gift and passion with them. And as always, we appreciate our illustrious Emcee, Mr. Kyler Mosely.

A great host of talent, led by the infamous Ken Wynn, made up the world class rhythm section we have come to rely on each year. We appreciate each one of these marvelous musicians who make this event the fun and inspiring time that it is. We have come to anticipate the offerings of the Young Brothers. They keep raising the bar and lighting up the stage.

We honored many people:

Our two dear friends who passed away last year, Gregg and Tim Brooks.

Christopher Lovell, son of Buddy Lovell. Thank you Buddy (AV Services) for your support of Skydog and the Rescue Mission. –We honor Christopher’s life with you and your family.

–We payed tribute to Lamar Williams Sr. A great legend of a man and musician.

–We presented the “Skydog Award” to Robert Coleman and Bill Lucado, and Mark Foley (in memory)

–Mama Louise always graces us with her beautiful self and presence and she was with us this past year.

The good people who came to Skydog 70 last year donated nearly 5 tons of food to benefit the Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia! Erin Reimers and Rob Schneck tell us that this one offering each year assures that their residents will have canned goods for the year and they add a big THANK YOU!

This wonderful organization began in 1952 here in Macon, Ga.

They provide ministry, shelter and food for the poor and homeless.

Please see their work at www.rescuemissionga.com  Please support them with your donations.

Our sponsors, musicians, stage personnel, food (H&H—thanks!) and t-shirt staff, security. It takes each one of us to see this evert through each year. So please know that you are loved and appreciated. Go to www.skydogmacon.com to see pictures from last year. Thanks to the 11th Hour and the Macon Telegraph for their sponsorship as well.

We thank all our sponsors and volunteers. It can’t happen without you. A special shout out to GEICO, GABBA, Pawn Max, and Q106. Al and Patsy Greene. Please see them all on our website and support them with your patronage.

As you know, the City Parks and Recreation is taking our Central City Park to new and better things. The construction sent us to the Luther Williams Baseball Field this year. It worked out beautifully and we want to thank the entire P&R staff along with the Fire Marshall Staff. Great people!
